The Siberian Husky is a friendly, energetic and independent dog, usually 16 to 27 kg. Huskies love company, howl more than they bark, and are famous escape artists, so a high, secure fence or a lead is a must. They need hours of exercise and plenty to do, so they are a poor match for first-time owners or people out all day.

This breed was built for the cold, and the thick double coat makes the UAE summer hard. Keep a Husky indoors in air conditioning during the day, run or walk only in the coolest hours, and never leave it outside or in a car. Brush often, especially during the heavy seasonal shed. Ask a groomer or vet before clipping, as a double coat does not always behave like a normal one. Be honest about whether you can meet its needs here, because an unhappy Husky can dig, chew and howl. For heat stress and eye health, ask your vet.
