Flemish Giant

The Flemish Giant is one of the largest rabbit breeds, often weighing 6 to 7 kg or more and stretching out to the size of a small dog. Flemish Giants are usually gentle, calm and tolerant, which has earned them the name gentle giants. Common colours include sandy, fawn, steel grey, black and white.

A rabbit this big needs a lot of space: a large indoor pen or a rabbit-proofed room, a big litter tray and daily time to exercise. Feed unlimited hay, fresh greens and a measured amount of pellets, and keep the weight healthy to protect the joints. Large rabbits suffer badly in the heat, so in the UAE keep a Flemish Giant indoors in air conditioning all year, with cool tiles to lie on.

When you buy, check for clear eyes, a clean nose and bottom, and teeth that meet evenly. Ask your vet about vaccinations and neutering. Selling Flemish Giant rabbits in the UAE? Post a free ad on AnimalMarket24 with photos, the age, the sex and the expected adult size.
