French Lop

The French Lop is a giant lop-eared rabbit that often weighs 5 to 6 kg or more, with a broad head and long ears that hang down beside the face. Despite their size, French Lops are usually gentle and relaxed, and many enjoy company. They need much more space than small breeds, so plan for a large indoor pen or a rabbit-safe room rather than a hutch.

Feed unlimited hay, fresh greens and a measured amount of pellets, and give room to stretch out, hop and stand up every day. Large rabbits feel the heat even more than small ones, so in the UAE keep a French Lop indoors in air conditioning, with cool tiles to lie on in summer. Check the ears and nails regularly, and keep the weight in a healthy range to protect the joints.
